WGCF Corporation: Board

Governance

The Board is made up of eight directors. Seven directors are appointed by the Wells Gray Community Forest Society, and the eighth director is appointed by Simpcw First Nation.

In addition to having a strong connection to the community of Clearwater and Wells Gray Country (TNRD Area “A”), the directors of the Corporation are selected for their expertise in forestry management, forestry operations, governance, and business administration.

The seven directors selected by the Society are reappointed annually following a performance review conducted by the Society’s representative. The director appointed by Simpcw First Nation is also reappointed annually.

To ensure transparency and accountability to the public, Directors must abide by all Board policies. Board policies can be found here.

Reporting to the Public

The Board shares its work with the public in several ways. A summary of each monthly meeting is published on the WGCFC website. Board Reports can be found here.

In collaboration with the General Manager, the Board also holds an annual open house to present the WGCFC Annual Report. Residents of Clearwater and TNRD Area “A” are invited to attend and ask questions.

The Board also communicates important updates through local media and its social media platforms.
