Meet the Employees

WGCFC Manager

Casey Macaulay
MA RPF

Casey has worked in forestry in BC since the early 1990s and is a registered professional forester. His full-time career began in Clearwater as a consulting forester where he was involved in the original design of the Wells Gray Community Forest. Since that time, he has worked as a planning forester, forest stewardship advocate and for over a decade held the position of registrar and director of act compliance for Forest Professionals BC – the regulator of the forestry profession.

He has a diploma in forest technology, a degree in forest management and a master’s degree in conflict analysis and management.

Throughout his career he has been an advocate of community forestry, public interest in the stewardship of forests and resource dependent communities impacted by the changes to the forest sector.

Simone Cusack
RPF

Simone is originally from Edmonton, AB, and graduated from the University of Alberta in 2016 with a BSc in Environmental and Conservation Sciences, majoring in Land Reclamation. She began her forestry career as a summer student in 2014 and continued after graduation.

In 2018 she moved to BC, spending 6.5 years in Mackenzie working in silviculture, followed by 1.5 years in Campbell River working in stewardship. Simone is an RPF and an Accredited Silviculture Surveyor.

Simone has an identical twin who is also a forester living in Clearwater. If you wave and she doesn't wave back, there's a good chance you met her twin — many people have learned the hard way that there are two of them.

Simone loves anything outdoors: hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, snowboarding, camping, and mountain biking. She was a member of the Campbell River Search and Rescue team and hopes to continue volunteering with Wells Gray Search and Rescue.
