Wells Gray Community Forest Corporation (WGCFC) is continuing its Annual Fuel Management project in the Candle Creek area this April. This ongoing initiative aims to enhance wildfire resilience and forest health through strategic vegetation management.
The work will include thinning, pruning, and piling of woody debris to reduce hazardous fuel loads. While these activities will take place this spring, pile burning will not be conducted until the fall of 2025 to ensure the safest and most effective implementation of the project.
Fuel management is a key part of WGCFC’s commitment to sustainable forestry and community safety. By reducing excess vegetation, the project helps lower wildfire risk while supporting the long-term health of the forest ecosystem.
WGCFC appreciates the community’s support and awareness as this important work continues.
